Got up in time to catch the last 20 minutes or so of the early Yu-Gi-Oh! episode - happy moments! Took a shower and got yelled at for it, my mom wanted to do my hair *sweatdrop* Ate at the free breakfast bar thing in the hotel, their bagels were good :P Wandered around with the 'dults all morning, went to Fleet Farm (yayness!) and Barnes and Nobles (much yayness!), got a very warm black sweater and 3 mangas *grin* Went back to the hotel in time to throw on my afternoon clothes and jump into the "adult" van - read: the van with all the old people - and head off to Granny's dance place... 3-inch heels plus several hours of hyper 8-year-olds and blind deaf old ladies = not fun. Good food, though *grin* Hey, man, ya gotta find the good in everything.
Anyways, about the time my feet were going to fall off everyone left, so we kinda cleaned up a bit and headed off to change for the next event. I went with Rebecca, my aunt's friend, so she could do my hair; we got lost on the way to the Heritage (where Granny lives) and again on the way back to my hotel room to pick up my dress. Which, by the way, was waaaaaaaaaay to sexy for my tastes. My aunt has a much better sense of fashion than all the rest of my family put together, and since I've pretty much got the best figure out of the group, I've kind of become her personal life-size Barbie doll... o.O;; So that skimpy black dress and those 3-inch heels got me through a 3 and a half hour dinner with more deaf old ladies and a few cool not-so-deaf old men. Again, more food. It was okay, but kinda too fancy to really be good, y'know what I mean?
So after that little adventure was over, not only did my feet hurt like hell, I was frozen. (It was about 40 degrees outside, and maybe 70 in the restaurant. I'm used to mid-80s.) I fled back to the hotel room and tried to watch some more anime - found out I had Cartoon Network, so I caught part of .hack//SIGN - until my mom came in and yelled at me to turn it off... Y'know, I happen to know she does the same kind of thing when we go somewhere. She indulges in the kind of stuff we don't get at home, the kind of junk I hate. Yet when I get the opportunity to catch some good TV - we have more channels than ever now, amounting to a whopping total of about 15, half of which are in Spanish - she yells at me for being "lazy and inactive." *rolls eyes* Man, 'rents these days.
ANYways. Now that that little rant's done with *grin*
So after getting yelled at for trying to do something I almost never get to do, I sit back to read my mangas. My uncle comes in a few minutes later, and he's got two boxes of pizza.
Yup. More food.
SO after sitting and trying to read while six adults drink beer and chat (rather loudly, mind you) for about an hour, I give up being polite and try to go to sleep. Doesn't work. My aunt comes in with her youngest, who's only about three months, and continues the conversation for another hour or so... About midnight, maybe one o'clock they all leave. (Which is when, of course, I wake up, completely and totally hyped up to write because of a really cool dream; again, my dad yells at me to go to bed. I forgot the dream, too. Damn.)
Y'know, I thought 90th birthday parties were supposed to be easy...
