Tol-Timpinen

There's a tempest in yon horned moon,
And lightning in yon cloud,
And hard the music, mariners,
The wind is piping loud;
The wind is piping loud, my boys!
The lightning flashes free,
While the hollow oak our palace is,
Our heritage the sea.

Christmas Plots

Main Focus: Cloakage! Probably not for everyone, because there's no way in the universe I can afford that, but certainly for Aaya, 'Gure, Meru, probably Babushka, hopefully Spaz-chan and 'Nieva-chan, possibly even Vash & Co. Although I think that may be stretching my limits on time if nothing else *sweatdrop*

I'd need a couple of styles. Fairly basic and sturdy, for people like 'Gure, since I don't see her wearing it so much on a day-to-day basis. Maybe even a full-circle cloak...? A bit more expensive material-wise, and I'd need to do a couple of cheap prototypes to get it right, but that might be the way to go. It's actually a slightly better camping style, I think, because it prevents the drafts you get with a normal open-front cloak. Otherwise, just make it voluminous. Definitely include pockets.

Note to Self: Make a few without armholes. I think we may find that those are considerably warmer, and not so much more inconvenient.

For Aaya, a normal open-front would be necessary, since she'd doubtless be wearing something bizarre under it. Warm and sturdy, but with some added fancy. Nothing outrageous, though. Maybe exchangeable parts...? (Nothing too out there, but say the clasp or something? Worth looking into.)

Meru, DEFINITELY a show-cloak. Looks over function for this one, since hers won't see so much hard use. So relatively light, with nice fabric - if it can be found, some of that oriental-looking fabric would be cool. Otherwise, work in a couple of Dragons. It would be relatively easy to include those as the clasp, but I think it would be almost more striking to have a tie-string rather than a clasp, and have the dragon emblazoned on the chest somewhere. Actually, that in mind, I think I can start working out the details on this one now...
The body would be a basic black, probably of some shiny-ish material. That can probably be found in the $1 rack, truth to tell. The inside might be a dark green fleece...? Maybe blue...? Something dark, at any rate, and along those lines. (Although, on second thought, maybe not fleece. I think maybe something more like the inside of mine might be better, textured and not so heavy.) The tie would be a thick black ribbon or something, I think. Something fairly sturdy, but kind of elegant. The hardest part would probably be the dragon emblem. I want something decent, not one of the cartoon-y dragons like the ones on my old bedspread. I just don't know where I'd find one. If it could be silver or gold on black, that would be perfect, but I suppose I can work something else out too. This one I think could do without edging - I think that would just be a bit much, really.

If I have the time and funds, it would also be kind of cool to complete each cloak with a matching scarf and maybe even some sort of half-cape thing.

As always, the two biggest issues with this are time and money, and probably in that order.

Hmmm.
